Who Has the Right of Way?

Stewart and I recently encountered a 4 way stop disagreement and we're not sure who is correct.

This is the situation:

We came up to a 4-way stop with a car all ready in front of us. There were no cars to our left or right, only two cars directly across from us.  The car in front of us and the 1st car across the street went through the intersection.  We pulled forward to the line and stopped first, before the other car made it to the line.  We were turning left, the car across from us was going straight.  Who has the right of way?

A) The car across from us, that is going straight, should yield to us since we pulled forward to the line first.

B)  We must yield to the car going straight since we are making a left turn.

Hmmm...that's a good question. I'm going to guess that it would depend how much sooner you got there. I think in that situation I would yield just to make sure the guy across didn't hit me. Are you going to research this and give the correct answer? I hope so!

I would yield to the car going straight in that situation. Although, I will admitt, I am over-cautious driver. With my accident record, you would be too. (For the record, only one accident was my fault. I was just a passenger in the others.)Some like to say I have 9 lives.

I'm completely unbiased and just want to put in my two cents. I would turn left in front of the other driver and give them a threatening look while I did. The right of way goes to the meanest driver...

I would think since you pulled up to the line and stopped first that it would be you to go first and the car going straight would have to wait. I think...there's no yielding at 4 way stops unless there is a rude driver that takes his turn before and you have to yield to avoid an accident. There's always grumbling in my car when that happens.
