Ryan

This kid is giving us a run for our money.  We finally cut his hair.  I held him down while Stewart went as fast as he could with the clippers.  I wish we could have done an even closer cut, so we would have more time in between hair cuts.  It was not fun for anyone.

You'll notice Ryan is wearing socks in the bathtub.  This is normal for bath time now. And here is the story:

A month or so ago he was wearing a new pair of black socks and at the end of the day when we pulled off his socks his feet were covered in black fuzzies.  It looked kind of gross and I regret it now, but I said, "Ewe , black fuzzies, we better wash them off in the bath."  And then Evie and Stew chimed in with "That's a lot of fuzzies, gross." and " I can't believe he has so many fuzzies on his feet."  So we gave him a bath and he had a panicked look on his face as the fuzzies came off in the water.  I didn't really think much about it and we washed the black fuzzies down the drain.

Well the next day I went to change his diaper and he wouldn't let me.  I finally got him calmed down and he kept saying, "Don't take off my socks."  And I assured him that I would not take off his socks and then he was willing to let me change his diaper.  I thought it was weird but moved on.

Then when it was time for bath time, he wouldn't go near the bathtub and would scream,  "No fuzzies. Don't take off my socks!  I realized that we had a problem and so I didn't force him into the tub.  I figured a few more days and this all would be behind us.  Well a few more days went by  and he was starting to smell like a puppy dog.  When I brought him to the bathtub he was completely terrified and still screaming, "No fuzzies, Don't take off my socks!  No bath time!"  But he smelled, so I just threw him in anyway and I washed him as quick as possible while he screamed bloody murder and tried to get out of the tub the whole time.  I thought for sure our neighbors were going to call child services on me because it sounded like I was torturing him.

We had to repeat the torture process every time I gave him a bath. And every time I changed his diaper he still said, "No fuzzies, don't take of my socks."   It was awful.

Finally I enlisted Stewart's help and he was able to get Ryan into the bath without screaming as long as he kept his socks on.  (And yes I told him long before that he could wear his socks in the tub, but he wouldn't listen to me.)   So now, bath time includes socks.  I don't care since he'll let me wash him and there is no screaming or splashing like a mad man anymore. Whew!  Hopefully soon socks will no longer be necessary.

TOP 5

1. Getting Stew signed up for soccer in the Fall.  We missed the spring soccer by a week when we moved here. He was pretty bummed.
2. The pool at our complex is now open!  And I don't know if it is the elevation, but even though it was only 70 degrees outside it felt hot and the pool was refreshing.
3. I got called as a CTR 4 primary teacher.  Yay!  I was hoping for primary.  And Ryan is doing fine in nursery now, so whew!
4. Stewart is finished with his one and only shift at nights.  I didn't care that he was gone overnight, it was just brutal keeping kids quiet while he slept during the day.
5. Finding two really cool parks in Rock Springs.  One has two story tall slides the other has a long zip line that kids can do.

BOTTOM 5

1. Apparently everyone regardless of body type likes to wear bikini's to the pool.  Too much flesh for my eyes.
2.  They haven't turned the heater off in Sacrament meeting yet, so it is super hot.  And add cranky kids to the mix and it's a long hour.
3.  Getting kids to bed when it's still light out and they can hear other kids playing outside.  It's 8:00, and Evie still has school, it doesn't seem too early to put them to bed.
4. Forgetting to check Ryan's pockets for rocks before washing his pants.
5. Otter Pop drips on clothes.
