It was a very lovely funeral service, but then during the closing hymn, is when “it” happened. My mom was sitting to my left and Stewart was on my right. We were into the second verse of “How Great Thou Art” and just coming up on the chorus. When I heard a very boisterous “How..” come out of my mother a few seconds ahead of the rest of us. Patsy of course tensed up realizing she had jumped the gun and she glanced out of the corner of her eye to see if anyone had heard her. A nice daughter would have let it go … but I just couldn’t resist. I made eye contact and gave her a little friendly jab in the side. That’s when the giggling started. For the record, she was first and then of course I couldn’t help myself. Our shoulders were shaking and neither of us could gain our composure. I don’t think it would have been so bad if there weren’t two more verses left and a lot of “How great thou art’s” left to sing. We both had to put up our hands to our faces so we couldn’t see each other and I even had to plug my ears so I could focus on something else. Luckily by the end of the song I was back to normal. Hopefully not too many people witnessed what had happened.
Here is the culprit... she seems innocent enough.

mom told me this story. Bob thought you two were sobbing.
Oh...I'm going to so enjoy your blog! smile
I bet it did look like sobbing from behind, and seeing that you were at GRANDMA'S FUNERAL! it would have been more appropriate for the sobs instead of the giggles. I love it. I've had giggle like that with Patsy before too.
