A Mother’s Day Miracle

Every year in our ward for Mother’s day the young men give all the women bug infested flowers. (I’ve tried to mention to the young men’s president that chocolate would be a better, cheaper option- but the flowers continue to show up each year.) Anyways, I took my flower home and didn’t want it in my house (again the little bugs) and so I put it out by my front steps. I figured the sprinklers could water it and maybe my neighbors would think I was going to plant it in front. I didn’t want to look like a complete dirt bag for throwing it away immediately.

So it either got too much water or sun and it went completely brown and died. I should have thrown it away at that point, but I didn’t. It still looked like bugs had made it their home and I didn’t want to touch it. I honestly thought the maintenance crew would just throw it away for me. Well, 5 months later and this is what I discovered today…..

Not only is it alive… it has flowers!!!

Apparently it wasn’t dead and has somehow survived the hot summer. I’m still in shock. Clearly, I still don’t want it and it will have to continue to find a way to thrive on its own.
But I'm proud of the little guy.
